Service Description
A half-day program designed to encourage and empower young people. Date: Saturday August 1, 2026 Time: 10:30am - 2:00pm Young people today face challenges ranging from cyber bullying to social media peer pressure and everything in between. This half-day program for youth is designed to encourage and empower young people with a focus on the skills they need to successfully cope with these challenges. Designed and facilitated by an equine education specialist and a registered psychotherapist/child and youth counsellor the focus is on fun using our influential equine teachers Sammy, Maple and Flapjack. Working in teams, participants will join in horse focused activities diversified with powerful Equine Assisted Learning sessions. They will set goals and learn to increase confidence, mindfulness, creative problem-solving abilities and coping skills to face today’s social pressures. All activities will relate horse care and herd dynamics to human care and relationships/teamwork. General Program Outline 10:30 – Arrival 10:40 – 11:10 Introductions, goal setting for the day Orientation and equine safety review Getting Present exercise 11:10 – 12:00 Introduce EAL activity, discuss objective(s) EAL Exercise #1 Lunch 12:00 – 11:20/12:30pm Build a Story Activity 12:30pm – 2:00pm EAL Exercise #2 Turn out ponies, put equipment away Overall Debrief 2:00pm Pick Up After registration, you will receive a registration package with additional details a few weeks before the camp starts. Since all the programming will be outside, staff will be checking weather daily for risks of extreme weather conditions; extreme heat/humidity, thunderstorms, excessive rain, etc. If staff decide to cancel the day’s program due to extreme weather, they will communicate this to parents/grandparents/guardians within 1-1 ½ hours prior to drop off time. Cancellation of a program will be emailed to the primary contact person of the participant ONLY if the program is not running that day. It is the responsibility of the primary contact to check their email prior to transporting their child/grandchild to the program. If any program days are canceled by staff due to inclement weather, you will be refunded for time missed less administration costs.

If any program days are canceled by staff due to inclement weather, you will be refunded for time missed less administration costs. If you choose to cancel your child’s camp registration prior to the start of camp our cancellation policy is as follows: · 30+ days’ notice: 90% refund · 15 - 29 days’ notice: If we can successfully fill camp spot = 90% refund; If we’re unable to fill camp spot = 50% refund · 7 – 14 days’ notice: If we can successfully fill camp spot = 80% refund; If we’re unable to fill camp spot = 25% refund Please note: Refunds are not granted if a parent/grandparent/guardian withdraws their child(ren) from the program early, or if a participant is dismissed or disinvited from the program due to misconduct and inappropriate behaviour, deemed as such at the discretion of the Abbey Gardens’ staff.
